Why Ball Valves?

A valve is a device that regulates, directs or controls the flow of a fluid (gases, liquids, fluidized solids, or slurries) by opening, closing, or partially obstructing various passageways. Ball valves are a basic type valve along with other ones such as butterfly valve, check valve, choke valve, diaphragm valve, gate valve, globe valve, pinch valve, piston valve, plug valve, thermal expansion valve, and pressure relief valves etc…

Ball valves, born in 1950s, have quickly become a main type in valve industry. A ball valve is a quarter-turn rotational motion valve that uses a ball-shaped disk to stop or start flow. If the valve is opened, the ball rotates to a point where the hole through the ball is in line with the valve body inlet and outlet. If the valve is closed, the ball is rotated so that the hole is perpendicular to the flow openings of the valve body and the flow is stopped.

How this new valve type is accepted and approved by many buyers and users in such a short period of time? Below are the main reasons why ball valves are so popular.

l  Ball valves are durable and usually work to achieve perfect shutoff even after years of disuse. They are therefore an excellent choice for shutoff applications (and are often preferred to globe valves and gate valves for this purpose). They do not offer the fine control that may be necessary in throttling applications but are sometimes used for this purpose.

l  Ball valves are used extensively in industrial applications because they are very versatile, supporting pressures up to 1000 bars and temperatures up to 200°C. Sizes typically range from 0.5 cm to 30 cm. They are easy to repair and operate.

l  The body of ball valves may be made of metal, plastic or metal with a ceramic center. The ball is often chrome plated to make it more durable.

Nowadays, ball valves are widely used in a variety of industries in many countries. It is safe to say that with the development of technology, they would play a more important role in machinery industry. So there are increasing numbers of valve manufacturers in China, and view the following to lead you to more China valve products and China valve suppliers.
